What’s New?

• 04/09/2025 – Working on populating the Store with Horror and Halloween Merch – Autoposter (draft posts) is working (Thanks to AI), and we vet and approve the products before they appear in the store – we don’t ship or store product; it’s a store that directs you to the sellers. See our disclaimer at the foot of all pages.
• 09/09/2025 – Restructured the store a bit as it grows, added some custom search options to the store menu, and added a search engine box and some sub-categories.
• 11/09/2025 – We put 2 t-shirts on Fourthwall!!
• 16/09/2025 – Revised the product auto poster to make better article posts
• 23/09/2025 – Created a script using the RestAPI that will like posts that are about Halloween or Horror and like posts about Halloween and horror to increase reach and network.
• 23/09/2025 – Using make.com to automate some social posting with RSS as the trigger and pushing to Google Search Console
• 23/09/2025 – Removed product metadata from the script that posts products for products, as it’s buggy and may hurt SEO in the long run if left in, and finessed some of the AI and post structure for product posting.
• 20/09/2025 – Gemini 1.5 is no more – AI Logic for post generation is now updated to 2.5, and I still manually proofread and amend posts.
• 03/10/2025 – Working on growing presence on Bluesky with automated likes for horror and Halloween using Bluesky’s API and help from AI to create scripts
• 03/10/2025 – We bought a one-year sub including a domain on wordpress.com / halloweenhorror.blog, linked it to all the Google and using YoastSEO and AI to improve SEO, and the site is popping off with traffic. (We dropped Yoast)
• 03/10/2025 – Tumblr follow and likes automated with a Python script, ran multiple times a day, and continuing to share horror content on Halloween / horror is a lifestyle (Tumblr blog) to drive traffic back here
• 03/10/2025 – Sovrn poster to Bluesky via API is in place, awaiting Sovrn to approve the site URL for my BlueSky (Not sure if this is happening)
• 09/10/2025 – Added a top bar and changed the SEO Plugin to something simpler and more effective.
• 01/12/2025 – Happy Advent! We are leaning into the Horror of Christmas, adding gift ideas to the store, taking down Halloween 2025-related products, the poster has significantly improved and now pulls in featured images from TMDB using an API, and uses JustWatch API for where to stream, which is dynamic, so it should give you current streaming locations for each movie we post about.
• 23/12/2025 – Merry Christmas – I’ve been working on the poster with a new version that is using TMDB API to get more factual information, but finding TMDB information a little outdated, so then we are using the updated Gemini (V3) WordPress article generator/poster with more accurate language for factual information, as Gemini does seem to make stuff up. im also being more diligent about fact-checking and SEO optimisation, and will be going back over some older posts. Getting the posts to be optimized well for SEO as well, and im seeing growth that is gradual and deliberate.
• 06/01/2026 – Happy New Year – Improving the SEO on the categories – adding a cobwebs channel (YT) playlist to post feed and integrating it into the blog. I love his content and believe we can complement one another’s efforts to put out great horror content. Attempted to reach out in a few comments on his channel, but he is a busy guy. Tell him how you discovered his content in his comments so we can assist each other with growth and the love of horror. (I have all the posts in their own Category, so it’s an easy takedown if needed.)
• 06/01/2026 – Front page change – in looking at getting posts possibly featured on MSN front page and discussing with AI, it became apparent my front page format of an image wall of featured images was not allowing Aggregators and crawlers to see the site for what it is, and was working against discoverability.
• 13/01/2026 – Tweaking some page settings for SEO,  I think the site is in a good place,  populating store with less mainstream physical media and learning loads about movies I had never heard of, and making friends and connections through a blossoming passion for Horror.  Still seeing good growth.
• 27/01/2026 – I’ve been thinking a lot about usability and navigation, and decided to go dark and make the front page just show the latest posts so that people can search or browse thereafter.
• 27/01/2026 – It’s a constant battle to add content, keep current content as factual as ever, and grow the site. I appreciate all the support, those who have called out when things are not factual, and AI has just made something up when creating a post.
• 13/06/2026 – Lots of new additions; the front page is less visual purely for speed of loading and presents more like a search engine. AI Posters vastly improves and using VS Code to develop some plugins that do things that no other plugins I find can do or are overly bloated. Trying to keep the site fast and informative.
• 20/06/2026 I was investigating a new theme and so switched from Neve to another theme, and then WP.com, on which I am a Premium user, said that I needed to upgrade a plan to reactivate Neve!!!

Future plans / What do we want to do?

Future and current Work in progress:

• Separate the Store into sub-categories for a better shopping experience – as I add collectables,  NECA, and physical media, I need to do this.
• Create some more Merch! – Probably with a Fourthwall store much like this one.
• Continue to bring you the best in the Horror Genre and Halloween posts all year long.
• Possibly launch a second Science Fiction site with the same format in the future
• Qualify for Amazon Affiliate
• Investigate News Aggregator and crawler access on the site and server-side loading, and client-side loading
